Dear New MTCA families,
I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself. I am a cradle Catholic, and my faith is of singular importance in my life. We are parishioners at St. Jude in New Lenox. I have been married to my college sweetheart for 23 years, and we are blessed with two beautiful children. I have been a teacher for eighteen years excluding a brief hiatus of six years during which I stayed home with my children. I have always and intentionally taught in Catholic schools because I believe quite profoundly in the mission of Catholic schools. I have always attended Catholic schools as well, from kindergarten through my MA. The work that is done in Catholic schools is unique, powerful, and important. In my experience, Catholic schools are academically excellent while providing a firm basis of faith that is crucial for children and families.
I taught high school English for twelve years at Longwood Academy in the city and Trinity High School in River Forest. I taught junior high English at St. Jude in New Lenox prior to coming to MTCA. My children are both students at St. Jude currently. I have an MA in Educational Leadership from Lewis University and am a thesis away from an MA in English Literature from Governors State.
I am very excited to be part of the MTCA community. There are wonderful things happening here; the students I’ve met are happy. There is work to be done, however. My dream for MTCA is to be one of the pillars of excellence in the Diocese of Joliet. I want our school to stand out among the 48 elementary schools in the Diocese. I believe firmly that this can happen. I also believe that while parents are the primary educators of their children, a strong home and school relationship is crucial to the success of children spiritually, academically, and socially.
Please feel free to come in to introduce yourself if you are in the building. I am eager to meet the students and families that make up this wonderful community. If you have comments, questions, or concerns, please contact me; I will be happy to talk with you. I pray for you all daily, and I ask the same of you. Here’s to a new and exciting school year!
Mrs. Annie Murray
